Born in Ipswich, England. By 1865 was in Auckland district and was married that year in Onehunga. Served in the Armed Constabulary. Did oil paintings of the thermal area, was listed as Auckland artist 1894-1901 Wise's, died in Wairoa. Pencil drawings of Onehunga are in Onehunga Library: sketchbooks with New Zealand, Australian scenes, birds and insects dated in the 1880s are in Turnbull.
