About Frances Hodgkins

Frances Hodgkins was one of New Zealand's most significant expatriate artists, and made a name for herself in Britain in the 1930s and 1940s as a member of the modernist Neo Romantic movement, which included such luminaries as John Piper, Henry Moore and Graham Sutherland.

Her works are held in most major New Zealand collections, including Auckland Art Gallery, Dunedin Public Art Gallery, and Te Papa, as well as in a number of British museums including the Tate Gallery, London.
