PETER ALOYSIUS MORIARTY 1918 - 1985

Peter Moriarty first exhibited at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts in 1947. Later becoming the Elected Artist Member of the Academy in 1965. Moriarty exhibited at the Pan Pacific Arts Festival, Christchurch, 1968 and later won the Caltex Art Award.

At this time Moriarty also exhibited in Japan working extensively in oils, watercolours and tempera. He is best known in New Zealand for his urban scenes.

Moriarty worked with fellow Wellington artists Thomas Arthur McCormack (1883 - 1973), Stewart Bell McLennan (1903 - 1973) and Nugent Herman Welch (1881 - 1970).

These works from the artist's Estate have never before been offered for sale.
