I pitched a tent down here when I was a student on a surf mission. I've revisited many times. There's a profound sense of isolation here as the bay points directly south. You're aware that just over the horizon is Antarctica, and the wind that comes from it is untainted. The only man made object in the bay is this small Bach - maybe a conservation hut. I painted the cliffs and waves from this hut perspective - the only wind protection in the stark bay. Four walls carefully elevated from the high tide mark, close to the stream which runs down the valley. Justin Summerton
