I/We Landscape relates to the I Am works painted at Cosy Nook, Southland. Pahia Hill features on horizon but this work relates in part to Arama Ave works of the 1970's. I saw it as a kind of unlikely monument to I and We, two aspects of human awareness. Works such as this extend the work of McCahon back to more involvement in the human situation while reintroducing pictorial aspects abandoned by Modernist purism. A painting influenced by elements of a rough vernacular and sculptural awareness. NB
