An exhibition of 30 oil paintings by Michael Blow
After an inspirational journey of three months working in France, Italy, Spain and England we have much pleasure in unveiling this collection of new works . . . European Moods.
In 1972, after completing post graduate studies in London, Michael spent seven months working and painting throughout Europe. This recent trip has been something of a personal pilgrimage for the artist returning to his best loved ports of call.
Kelliher Award winner Michael Blow began painting professionally in 1975 having gained a Diploma of Fine Art at Elam School of Fine Art and continued his training at the Sir John Cass School of Fine Arts in London.
"From this perspective of time what seems to be important to me is the feeling, the magic or mystery, the history and mood of the places we visited. I have wanted the paintings to have a reflective quality, with an inward looking character. They should not just catch the topographical character of the subject but also express the magic of light and life, and evoke an inner innate quality or spirit".
