Melody cascades from this latest work by British born Patterson Parkin who creates right on key. Take Five was a jazz classic composed in 1959 by saxophonist Paul Desmond and recorded by the Dave Brubeck Quartet at Columbia Records, New York City. This expressive work with its myriad cubes of silvered lavender, burnt orange and smokey blues provides the visual setting for a golden saxaphone. The painting is full of interest and energy with the artist anchoring the action to a geometric, op-art frieze at the base of the composition.
