About Richard Chrisp

Richard Chrisp (b. 1944) Gisborne (Ngati Porou Rongowhakaata).

Educated at Wanganui Collegiate School and Victoria University (French and Italian). Richard worked for five years as a journalist/theatre film critic for the Information and Press Department, Wellington. During the next five years he was based in Europe, specifically Paris and London working for a French company as a tour escort. This resulted in much international travel. A year based in Morocco was followed by six months in Tahiti.

Richard returned to Wellington and opened Le Beauchamp Brassiere in Tinakori Road. The artist began painting seriously during a three month stay in Japan. Regular exhibitions were held at Highwic House, Auckland with Group Nine under tutor/mentor Agres Wood. Further exhibitions followed in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

1990 Richard attended Ecole des Beaux Arts summer course Givenry and in Paris.

Richard is represented by International Art Centre - we have a number of works available some of which are shown on our website.
