About Tony Ogle

Tony Ogle's screen prints, depicting New Zealand coastlines and beach environments, provoke a subconscious connection of nostalgia between the viewer and the work. Born in 1959, Ogle began his art career later in the early 1980s, where he set up a screen-printing studio with fellow artist Tom Burnett in Matapouri Bay, Northland. Here, they taught themselves how to screen-print, using Northlands coastal environment as subject. Ogle's works are distinct, using vibrant and luminous colour which both capture and express a deep connection to the landscape itself. Despite relocating to various New Zealand cities, Ogle's work consistently remained reflective of New Zealand coastal landscapes and the beach lifestyle that accompanies it.
