About Cedric Savage

Cedric Savage was born in New Zealand in 1901 and later studied sculpture and painting in Wellington. He is most known for designing Parliament buildings in Wellington before moving to Australia. He later went to live in Spain where he was given the honour of Spanish citizenship.

Savage returned to New Zealand in 1942 living in Wellington and regularily exhibiting with the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts. He also served on the council during that time.

Savage left New Zealand again in 1955 painting throughout Europe and the Mediterranean and exhibiting the works in New Zealand.

He was a 1961 Kelliher Art Award winner.
