McCahon fetches record price Wed, 26 Aug 2009

McCahon's 'Let Be, Let Be, 1959' from the Elias Series has just fetched a record in an auction at Deutscher and Hackett, Melbourne.

Estimated at A$800,000 - 1,200,000 it fetched A$785,000 + buyers premium - ( NZ$1,144,832 including premium.)

We understand that this is the highest price paid for a NZ work of art at auction. Great news for the NZ art market overall and shows confidence in NZ paintings on the international stage.
