Inscription verso reads: Mist Clearing From Barne Glacier. Although the Barne Glacier was shrouded in mist, I set out in hopes, with my gear, to paint it if it cleared. As I neared it, wonderful shapes began to emerge, but too quickly to note on the spot. I painted it in full sunlight, and have made several subsequent versions of that scene, but this time I tried to remember it as it was appearing out of the mist. I doubt if I could have worked in the mist anyway, nothing would have dried.
