A mix of real objects and the imagination. One aspect of the isolated rural aspect I was living in at the time at Cosy Nook was to tap into a harsh mentality that was part of the New Zealand vernacular and laugh a little at it as well. Pulling your socks up was often conceived as the limited advice to those depressed, struggling or different. I've had a bit of fun imagining a brutal Heath Robinson machine.
