About Adrian Cave

The watercolours of retired Gisborne farmer and senior artist Adrian Cave all have a story to tell. They record sights seen, and places visited by the artist, Paris being a particular favourite. Cave was introduced to oil painting by his good friend and mentor, the late artist Peter Williams. Once he came to terms with oil painting, Cave experimented with watercolours. Eventually heading for Melbourne where he took lessons with watercolourist David Taylor, whose influence is clearly seen in Cave's work. Painting in a traditional style, Cave's European street scenes are particularly popular.
