New Zealand's first auction dedicated to Women Artists saw outstanding results on the night and resulted in several new art auction records.
Highest price went to Evelyn Page's Young Woman In A Bay Window $174,180. Strong collector interest saw both the Marti Friedlander photographs achieve record prices. Louise Henderson Studio, 1975 realised $18,018 and her iconic Eglinton Valley, 1970 exceeded its top estimate selling for $24,025.
Two works by Pauline Yearbury sold well beyond estimate St Francis, Tobias and Friends and Wake Up Saint Francis sold for $28,830 and $30,031, a record for the artist.
Two outstanding works by Star Gossage saw determined bidding in room and online with Oi Boy selling $32,778 and Ao Tahi, First Light setting a new record for the artist with a final sale price of $48,050. Jenny Dolezel's In the Listening Room had significant interest during the auction viewing and sold for $48,650, the second highest price achieved for a Dolezel at auction.
