An early morning and the Shaw Saville ship Crusader berthing at Queen's Wharf, Auckland. 1890's

The Crusader was considered one of the fastest of the Shaw Saville ships. She was built by Connell of Glasgow and launched in March, 1865. Her measurements were: 1058 tons net, 1058 tons gross, 210,7 ft length, 35.1 ft. breadth, 21.4ft. depth. In 1878 she made a passage of 65 days from London to Port Chalmers. She was eventually sold to the Norwegians.
