Forty kilometres north of Auckland the golden sands of Orewa's Pacific Ocean Beach stretch before us. Gently rolling surf laps the shoreline opposite which stands the distinctive Surf Life Saving Club, original opened in 1960. A tree of cascading pohutukawa welcomes the viewer.
