November's Important & Rare auction saw a dynamic offering of fine art, both contemporary & traditional works. Some dramatic bidding duels on the Peter McIntyre paintings which fetched a combined total of $263,500 under hammer ($308,000 including premium). Top price of the night was Don Binney's 'Kairara Kaka Variant ' at $120,000 hammer. Telephone bidders were numerous as were local collectors for Namatjira's Lot 108, selling for $25,000 hammer against it's $8,000 - 12,000 estimate. 100% of the 17 photography lots on offer sold under hammer. Ralph Hotere's 'A Wind Goes Out' made $45,000 against its $30-40,000 estimate. Total in excess of $1.055 million including post auction sales.
