The South Island's Cardrona Valley lies on the Crown Range Road, a steep, mountainous route between Queenstown and Wanaka. During the late 1800's the village of Cardrona was at the centre of the region's gold mining industry. Today, home to two of Wanaka's popular ski fields the Cardrona Valley is a skiing and snowboarding mecca.
