Tom Burnett

Born in London in 1958, Tom Burnett and his parents moved to New Zealand when he was a young age. Immersed in the picturesque environment of Northlands Bay of Islands, Burnett was inspired to create work that would both encapsulate and mirror the natural beauty presented. At the age of seventeen, Burnett left school to study watercolour with his father, and the year following, had his first exhibition in Auckland. Now, Burnett produces works most prominently of screen and silkscreen printing. This displays the purposeful simplification of the colour and composition, and pairs along with the strong Pacific Island and New Zealand coastal landscapes context of his work.
